God, I Love Room Service

The interview with Jeopardy went really well. I met some super nice people, played a mock-up game, took another 50-question quiz. I felt really out of my league because there were like three people from Stanford taking the test (eep!), and pretty much everyone had done Quiz Bowl or something similar in high school or into college. I definitely didn’t. It was cool, though, and I really enjoyed it. I guess they tape in early January, so I should hear back by December 18-20 or so.

In other news, my mom and I got a room at the Embassy Suites North in LA, and it’s amazing. We have a suite, with a sitting room with a giant flat-screen TV, couch and arm chair, a four-person table (!), a GameCube… the place is huge. Also kind of funny because usually when we go anywhere, we stay in nice but fairly cheap motels. My mom decided to splurge for this trip. I had a killer steak sandwich in the restaurant for lunch, and we’re ordering up room service for dinner. I love hotels – everything is designed around pampering you. It’s hard not to feel flattered.

P.S. They have a nightly manager’s reception with free food and drinks – including alcohol, including hard alcohol. For free. My mom and I noshed down on nachos, Asian trail mix, popcorn, soda, and wine. This is a classy establishment.
